Follow along as I travel 13,000 miles through 22 states during the next nine weeks on my motorcycle. Traveling alone, I look forward to visiting friends in Oregon, California, Florida, North Carolina, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Colorado. I will do some tent camping when the weather is nice, and take some days off along the way to see the sights.

Tomorrow’s weather forecast predicts morning clouds in Seattle and afternoon periods of rain in Oregon with high temperatures only in the low 50’s. Some rain is expected overnight, as well.

Expected distance covered: 300 miles
My tentative destination is Cape Lookout State Park. If I camp, it will be in a Yurt. I don’t want to tent camp overnight if rain is expected – at least not on my first night out 🙂 My other option is to grab a motel room in Tillamook or that general area.
My first week takes me along the Oregon and Northern California coast, with a few detours inland. I’ll ride through Napa Valley, visit San Francisco, and stop in Santa Cruz for the weekend to visit friends.
Just like I did for last year’s adventures, I’ll post to the blog daily (when internet access is available). Each post will include a map of the route I took, a summary of the distance covered and the weather I rode through, along with a few photos and the occasional video. Some days I’ll write a bit about traveling by motorcycle, the people I meet, and the events that were particularly memorable.
Comments are welcome and suggestions on where to stop, what side roads to take, and where to eat are all appreciated.
I started last year’s Western States Tour traveling down 101 and will do so again this year. Here’s a video taken last year as I traveled the Oregon Coast. It will provide you with a preview of where I’m headed.
